151 General Assembly Agenda by the Conservative Caucus of Delaware

Posted on 01-11-2022

The 151st General Assembly will reconvene on January 11, 2022. The democrats will again push their leftist agenda.

Some of those bills are: House Bill 150 the Delaware Marijuana Control Act would legalize the recreational sale and use of marijuana. House Bill 75 would allow Delaware voters to request mail-in ballots during all future elections without providing an explanation: this requires a change to the State Constitution. House Bill 199 would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the State Constitution; the law could allow lawsuits against churches and religious organizations for discrimination.

Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 3 would require that Delawareans first obtain a “handgun qualified purchaser card” before purchasing a firearm and require other compliance measures. Senate Bill 149 would allow members of the public and media access to police misconduct records that are currently kept secret under the state’s Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights. Senate Bill 1 the Healthy Delaware Families Act would create a statewide paid family and medical leave insurance program and includes a broad definition of what constitutes a “family member.” This seriously, flawed bill was extensively covered in our July 2021 issue.

In contrast, GOP bills worthy of support are: House Bill 188 which would make illegal voting a class G felony and increase the fine to a minimum of $1,000 for a first offense and a minimum of $2,000 for any subsequent offense. House Bill 49 would require the General Assembly to approve the renewal of a state of emergency beyond the initial 30 days. Senate Bill 58 would prohibit the governor from mandating that Delawareans receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To contact legislators: www.legis.delaware.gov or call 302-744-4114. ■
