Dr. Julia Pillsbury sworn in as City Councilperson representing Republicans and Democrats in the 1st District
On Monday Night, December 13, 20212, Dr. Julia Pillsbury took the Oath of Office as a member of the Dover City Council. A Republican, Dr. Pillsbury won a special election on November 16 in a district with a strong Democratic majority. She promised voters that she would represent everyone in the district and pledged to address public safety and the dramatic increase in violence in the city in her campaign.
Dr. Pillsbury started her career as a nurse and later became a doctor. She served in both the Army and Air Force, for several decades, she has been a pediatrician serving families in the Dover area. She decided to run for office to continue her service to the community she loves.
Council President Roy Sudler congratulated her and welcomed her to the Council. He thanked her for her willingness to serve the great City of Dover.
“I’m very honored to be a member of City Council. I expect to learn a lot and to offer a lot”, Councilwoman Pillsbury said. “I’m looking forward to my term.” Pillsbury will fill out the rest of former Councilman Mathew Lindell’s term until May of 2023.
“We are all proud of Julia. She cares about the City that she has lived in and served for almost 30 years. She saw an opportunity to make things better and worked hard to win the special election. She is an example for everyone who wants to make a difference in their community.” stated Jane Brady, Chair of the Delaware Republican Party.
