Delaware Republican State Convention concluded today with the election of Julianne Murray (Seaford, DE) as the new State Chair of the DEGOP for the next two years.  The Convention delegates also elected Jim Weldin (Newark) as Vice Chair, Brandon Brice (Wilmington) as the Party Secretary, and Ben Gregg (Hockessin) as the new Treasurer.

Murray is a long-time resident of Sussex County and a partner in the law firm Murray, Phillips, and Gay.  Julianne Murray earned a J.D. from Widener Law School, now known as Delaware Law School.  She is known as a spirited leader, a fighter for all people, and a principled Republican.  In 2022, Murray ran for Attorney General and is an experienced campaigner and political strategist.

Murray promised to be a positive voice for Republicans statewide and create a stronger Republican Party.  She pledged to work with every delegate to earn their trust and move the Party forward in preparation for the 2024 elections.  Murray challenged every delegate to leave the convention committed to working together to make Delaware a better place to live, work and raise a family.

“We must leave this convention united as a Party. We can be bold! We can be outspoken! But we must be United.” proclaimed Murray.

Jim Weldin is currently the chair of the Colonial Region of the Republican Party, a retired Newark Police Officer, and a baseball coach.  “We must build the party working with people in every neighborhood and inside the communities all over Delaware.  We must build first at the grassroots,” declared Weldin.  He was elected based on his track record of building a political organization and his operational skills.

Retired business leader Ben Gregg was elected following his campaign for State Rep in the 12th Rep. District.  Brandon Brice is a community leader and business executive active in the Wilmington community.

Rep, Mike Ramone served as the Chair of the Convention.  “Republicans are excited about the new GOP leadership team!  They are diverse, talented, and eager to go to work”, stated Ramone.

The Convention was held in Dover on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29th at the Modern Maturity Center.  The Chairman Award was presented to Peggy Mika for her service to the Party over many years.  Over 480 people attended part of the two-day event.  The Convention convened at 1:30 by Rep. Ramone.
